Hi, my name is Amanda and I am a childbirth education mentor and the host of the Finding Your Village podcast. I live outside Atlanta, GA with my husband and two kids. The goal of the podcast is to make the early days of parenting more connected. In addition to my family, I am passionate about: writing, podcasting, recovery from addiction and trauma, music, racial reconciliation and birth work.

After parenting for only a few years, I deeply understand the saying, It Takes a Village to Raise a Child! Having supportive resources around you to help you maneuver through each step, milestone and bump in the road is so important. However, today, most of us don’t live in that village model. Even though we are more physically isolated than we have ever been, we are more connected to the rest of the world than we have ever been through technology.

I think we have an opportunity to build our own villages in the form of help from books, friends, doulas, pediatricians, online communities, mother support groups and any resource that you can lean on when you have questions or need help.

I started the FYV podcast to be a helpful resource to new parents as well as to start conversations about topics that I find really important and not discussed enough. I am soon to be adding a writing section to showcase blogs, articles, essays and poems that I write and that others contribute to, in order to share more about my parenting journey.
